UPDATE: Warren man in jail on charges of kidnapping, domestic assault
ROCKLAND — A Warren man who was arrested early Monday morning, Feb. 27, for allegedly assaulting a woman multiple times during an altercation made his initial court appearance the same day in Knox County Court.
Thomas S. Parkerson, 32, of Warren, was charged with kidnapping, domestic violence aggravated assault, and criminal mischief.
Judge Sarah Gilbert set Parkerson’s bail at $10,000 cash during the hearing Feb. 27. He remains in the Knox County Correctional Facility as of March 2.
If Parkerson posts bail, he must sign a Maine Pre-Trial contract and will be on supervised release including house arrest with a GPS monitor.
According to the affidavit filed in court by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, police were contacted by the Knox Regional Communications Center after they received a message at approximately 2:28 a.m. to conduct a welfare check on a woman in Warren.
The Sheriff’s Office responded to an alert from the Portland Police Department that Parkerson had sent a message to someone that he had thrown down a woman and kicked her. The person who received the message called and asked to speak to the victim, but Parkerson hung up the phone. Another person sent a text message to Parkerson who said he had broken the woman’s leg and nose. When the suspect was asked if he had killed the woman, he said yes and stopped responding to further electronic messages, according to the affidavit.
Police said that when they arrived at the residence, they saw the woman had signs of injuries including blood on her face, bruising and swelling, a limp when walking, and was unable to use one of her hands.
The victim told police that Parkerson had punched her multiple times and she blacked out and did not remember many details about the assault. She said that he took away her electronic devices and ripped out her security camera.
Parkerson told police he lost his temper and confirmed that he struck the woman multiple times, according to the affidavit.
Police said that based on the information provided by the woman, she had also been held against her will for several hours.
Parkerson is scheduled to appear in court again April 27 for a dispositional conference.
