Unity man arrested on domestic assault charges
THORNDIKE — A Unity man has been charged with several crimes after Waldo County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the complaint of a domestic disturbance July 1.
Robert Jurdak, 36, was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault, criminal mischief, and obstructing the report of a crime following the 1 a.m. incident.
When Deputies Ryan Jackson and Andrew Mulligan responded to the scene the victim claimed that they were spending time with Jurdak when an argument began, according to a media report.
The victim reportedly asked Jurdak to leave, at which point he began punching and biting them.
Jurdak also allegedly took the victim’s phone when they attempted to call for help, smashing it to prevent them from alerting law enforcement.
Deputies Jackson and Mulligan interviewed those at the scene, and ultimately arrested Jurdak.
He was transported to the Waldo County Jail where he was later released on $500 cash bail.
