Rockport man appears in court again for assaulting and threatening correction officers
ROCKLAND – A Rockport man who was previously charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a male victim and inflicting injury to another person at the same residence appeared in court again Oct. 26. Tyrone Trask, 55, of Rockport, was charged with felony assault and three counts of terrorizing.
Knox County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tim Carroll said in a press release that Trask had been combative while being placed in a restraint chair at the Knox County Jail where he was being held for a number of previous charges. According to corrections officers, Trask had allegedly spit in the face of one of the officers and was also threatening physical harm and death to all involved as soon as he was released, the sheriff’s office said.
Trask was also arrested Oct. 23 by Rockport Police Officer Craig Cooley and charged with violating conditions of release and aggravated assault. According to the police report, a witness reported that the victim had first slapped Trask on the side of his face. Trask then punched the man who fell to the ground and kept kicking him in the jaw and ribs while wearing steel-toed boots, police said.
The victim was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center with a broken jaw and then life-flighted to Maine Medical Center to have his jaw wired.
Trask is currently being held at the Knox County Jail.
Rockport Sgt. Travis Ford had initially arrested Trask Oct. 18 and charged him with unlawful sexual contact, assault and disorderly conduct.
According to court documents, Ford had responded to a call from two men at a Camden Street residence who said Trask sexually assaulted one of them and assaulted the other by injuring his ear, which caused deep scratches and bleeding. The men told police that the altercation occurred when they confronted Trask about an incident that occurred the night before when Trask allegedly sexually assaulted one of the men when he tried to put his hand down his pants.
Attorney James M. Mason of Brunswick is representing Trask as his court appointed attorney.
During the transport to the jail, Trask refused to give his name to Ford and said he was going to have someone kill him later. Ford stated in the court document that when Trask threatened him, he recalled the same threat made against him a few years ago and remembered the man in vehicle was Trask.
Trask’s criminal record includes terrorizing and assault convictions, some against officers.
Trask will make his next court appearance Jan. 16 in Knox County Unified Court for a dispositional conference.
