ROCKLAND — A 19-year-old Rockland man who was sentenced in February 2017 to five years in jail with all but nine months suspended for sexually assaulting two girls, is heading to prison after pleading guilty to another sexual assault.

Matthew Boegel was sentenced Jan. 25 in Knox County Unified Court to 42 months in prison for violating his probation by committing the new offenses in October 2017.

Boegel pleaded guilty to aggravated unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, marijuana, to someone younger than 18 years old and to sexual abuse of a minor. The additional charges of assault and permitting unlawful use were dismissed.

He was sentenced by Judge Susan Sparaco to five years in jail, all suspended, and two years of additional probation for the new charges that occurred Oct. 27, 2017.

Boegel will serve the sentence handed down Jan. 25 after he serves the 42 months in prison for violating his probation in 2017.

He was sentenced in February 2017 to five years in jail with all but nine months suspended for sexually assaulting two girls who were 12 and 13 years old at the time of the incident, during the summer of 2016, at a pool party. He pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful sexual contact and two counts of assault. Two counts of gross sexual assault were dismissed.

The terms of his probation stipulated that he could have not have contact with anyone younger than 16 years of age and could not commit any additional crimes.

Boegel is registered for the remainder of his life with SORNA (Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act).
