Rockland man arrested for child endangerment
ROCKLAND — A Rockland man, 29-year-old Jeremy Dennison, is in jail Thursday morning following his arrest Wednesday night on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, refusing to submit to arrest and a probation violation.
In a press release, Rockland Police Sgt. Don Finnegan said information was received that Dennison had allegedly left his 4-year-old daughter home alone on April 20, while he went out to a bar. Officers immediately responded to the home, to check on the child, and reportedly found her sleeping on a couch, with the television on. No one else was at the home, said Finnegan in the release.
Finnegan also said officers were met at the residence by the child's mother, who arrived there immediately after learning that the child was home alone. She told officers she had made arrangements with Dennison for him to care for their child while she was out with a friend.
Officers located Dennison walking a short distance from the residence. When officers attempted to arrest Dennison, he refused to submit, reportedly pulling and twisting in an attempt to break free. He was ultimately restrained by officers and taken into custody.
According to the release, Dennison is on probation stemming from an earlier arson conviction.
