Preparations for March Presidential Primary election underway in Camden
CAMDEN – Select Board members will decide January 23 on a change in the voting location for the March 5 Presidential Primary, as well the Registrar’s office hours.
The Board will also discuss the January 9-10 storm damage reporting and issues to place before voters in June.
Board meetings take place in the French Conference Room on Washington Street and are broadcast live on Spectrum Cable TV channel 1303 and web streamed on the Town of Camden, Maine YouTube channel.
The town’s application for a change in the voting place location on March 5 to the third floor of the Town Office Building has been approved by the Secretary of State’s Office, according to a memo to the Select Board. The building is located at 31 Elm Street, and the third floor is accessible by elevator.
A 13-page questionnaire regarding accessibility was part of the application process, and was filled out by Code Officer Clint Beveridge. In the memo, Town Clerk Katrina Oakes thanked Beveridge for his efforts and Fire Chief Chris Farley and Camden Opera House Manager Dave Morrison for their input.
Looking ahead to June elections, a memo from Planning and Development Director Jeremy Martin lists as possible ballot items amendments to further regulate short term rentals, additional zoning amendments to regulate piers and changes to standards “to better address impacts of drainage on abutting properties.”
