More weather descending, get snow shovels ready
The brief respite from the ice and snow is over and meteorologists are telling us that a winter storm warning is on the docket for Jan 17. This means five to 10 inches of snow, and it could be heavy at times.
The snow, expected to begin in the Midcoast in the overnight hours and continue through Wednesday, comes courtesy of a low pressure system off the Mid-Atlantic coast that is building into the Gulf of Maine.
The Midcoast of Maine is expected to be hit the hardest with snowfall amounts, according to the National Weather Service in Gray.
Anticipated amounts range from 5 to 10 inches in the Midcoast.
By Wednesday evening, the snow will taper off, and temperatures will be seasonable, in the teens and lower 20s.
