Montville man arrested following Belmont assault
BELMONT — A Montville man was arrested March 9 after law enforcement received multiple reports of an ongoing assault at a local business.
Matthew McIntire, 37, was reportedly engaged in an argument with the victim before striking him in the head, according to a news release from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the scene and were met by the male victim.
Both the victim and witnesses reported that McIntire allegedly used an object that “looked like a small club,” in the assault, resulting in the victim suffering a laceration.
Deputies located McIntire at his residence in Montville, where he was interviewed and ultimately arrested.
McIntire has been charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct and is being held without bail pending a court appearance.
