Martin M. Page, obituary
SWANVILLE — Martin M. Page, 77 of Swanville, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Belfast on June 17, 1938, to Clyde W. and Thelma (Roberts) Page.
He grew up and attended school in Belfast, where he graduated from Crosby High School in 1956. After graduation he went to work for Eastern Maine Towage Company for many years. After spending time as a store clerk, and at the Water District, he began his career at the Waldo County Sheriff's Department where he worked as a corrections officer, dispatcher and finally as jail administrator. After his retirement he worked for many more years as a court officer in Belfast, Rockland and Ellsworth. Martin was a volunteer fireman and ambulance attendant for many years with the Belfast Fire Department. He was a past member of Timothy Chase Lodge and a former member of the other Masonic bodies, as well as the Shrine. He was a member of Granite Grange in Searsport and the North Searsport United Methodist Church.
Martin was a devoted family man and loved having the family at home with him. He enjoyed working in his shop, collecting Lionel trains and coins, and was always ready to help anyone with any reference project. He was well known for his quick wit and kept his sense of humor until the end.
Martin is survived by his wife, Joyce (Kenney) Page; his daughter, Karen L. Page; his son, Kevin L. Page; and his granddaughter, Alyssa J. Page, who was the light of his life. He is also survived by two brothers, Bruce C. Page and his wife, Deloris, and Malcom Page; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernard and Patricia Jackson, John and Linda Clifford, Keith and Nancy Harris, Bruce and Deborah Ellis, and Jeffrey and Cara Kenney; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He and Joyce were blessed with many special friends and appreciate the special friendship of Dean and Weldeena Hustus, Sally Tripp, Myron Hersom, and Jim and Joyce Richards.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, April 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave. in Belfast, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m. at North Searsport United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Elizabeth Bailey-Mitchell officiating.
