Man arrested after allegedly strangling victim to unconsciousness
BELFAST — A Waldoboro man was arrested following a reported assault in Searsmont July 2.
Joseph Brann, 22, was arrested for assault, and aggravated mischief following the early morning incident.
Waldo County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the call around 2 a.m., according to a media report.
Once on scene the complainant and homeowner told Deputies Dean Jackson and Ryan Jackson that Brann had arrived at the residence with a friend earlier in the evening.
The complainant reportedly stated that after socializing and consuming alcohol for some time, an argument started between Brann and the occupants of the home.
When one of the occupants requested Brann leave the residence he reportedly became upset and started to vandalize their vehicle.
In addition to putting dents in the body of the vehicle, Brann also broke out the windows.
Brann allegedly punched the victim, and then strangled them to the point they lost consciousness.
Brann was arrested and transported to Waldo County Correctional Center.
He was released July 3 on $500 cash bail.
