CAMDEN — Children’s House Montessori School announced the recent addition of an area Montessori trailblazer to its teaching corps.  Paula Johnson is joining the Children’s House for the 2015-16 school year as lead teacher of the Orange Door primary-age classroom, where she will guide a multi-age group of three to six year-old children.

Johnson has 25 years of experience leading Montessori education in the Midcoast, including a several-year term at Children’s House as an assistant and lead teacher, as well as being the founder and long-time Head of School of Cornerspring Montessori School, in Belfast.

“We are so pleased to welcome Paula back into our fold,” said Children’s House Montessori Board of Directors Chairman Rick Thackeray, in a news release.  “Paula’s combination of classroom leadership and administrative understanding will help bolster the strength of our educator group and afford our school children with another amazing guide into the world of Montessori-based learning.”

Her return to Children’s House comes as the school prepares to open its third primary-age classroom for the first time in a decade. 

As the third primary-age classroom lead teacher alongside Children’s House returnees Jackie Grannis-Phoenix and Ning Sawangjaeng, Johnson is expected to help broaden the opportunities for children in the Midcoast to embrace the school’s core educational values: Respect for Children, Respect for the Individual, Respect for Community, Respect for Humanity, and Respect for the Natural World.
