Late report: Knox man arrested
KNOX — Waldo County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Knox man Feb. 1, when he allegedly was intoxicated, operating without a license and driving with his children in his vehicle.
In a press release, Sheriff Jeff Trafton said that a report of a disturbance at a Belfast Road residence in Knox was called in to Waldo County Dispatch around 6:25 p.m. on Feb. 1. Deputy Wiley McVety responded to the call, along with several other deputies.
Once on scene, McVety learned that the owners of the two residences on the property had been involved in an ongoing dispute. Prior to McVety’s arrival, one of the involved parties, 49-year-old Jeffrey Hill of Knox, allegedly drove his truck at a high rate of speed toward the neighbor's home. Trafton said the neighbor claimed that when he went outside, Hill's truck was parked very close to his house. The neighbor claimed that Hill was intoxicated and that he had his three young daughters in the vehicle with him at the time.
Deputies conducted interviews with individuals at the scene and as a result, Trafton said that Hill was arrested. He was charged with operating under the influence, Class D; operating without a driver's License, Class E; disorderly conduct, Class E; and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Class D.
Hill was transported to the Waldo County Correctional Center, where he was later released after posting $500 cash bail.
