Knox County Sheriff Office honors employees Angela Escorsio, Heidi Norweg, Jeremy Joslyn
THOMASTON — Sheriff Donna Dennison honored employees of the Knox County Sheriff's Office at an annual awards banquet held Jan. 17. Members from all five Sheriff's Office divisions were gathered to join in the recognition of their co-workers.
Corrections Officer Angela Escorsio was recognized as the 2015 Corrections Officer of the Year. Escorsio has worked for the Sheriff's Office for more than years. Dennison said in a news release, "She is confident, reliable, and trustworthy. She is a prime example of the benefits of hiring veterans."
Sergeant Ruben Page nominated Escorsio.
"She is confident and runs her assigned blocks with authority, needing very little guidance if any,” he said. “We are very lucky to have one as dedicated, knowledgeable, and diligent as her. I am proud to say she is my co-worker."
Administrative Assistant Heidi Norweg was recognized as the 2015 Employee of the Year. Norweg has worked for the Sheriff's Office for more than four years.
Dennison said: "She has proved herself many times over as the administrative assistant at the Jail. She is always willing to help others even though she is often very busy with her own work. Her positive attitude is certainly a virtue. She never brings her problems to work, nor does she complain."
Maintenance Officer Ralph Cline nominated Norweg, "she is willing to help ... no matter how busy she is she will make time for you and whatever your problem is."
Patrol Deputy Jeremy Joslyn was recognized as the 2015 Deputy of the Year.
Joslyn has worked for the Sheriff's Office for more than two years.
"He is credited with lifesaving support after responding to a drug overdose by performing CPR until the ambulance arrived with Narcan,” said Dennison. “He is also the county's K-9 officer, handling both a bloodhound search dog and a drug dog. He has been a big asset to the department."
Sergeant Matthew Elwell nominated Joslyn.
"He has had a solid year as the anchor of the night shift with over 1,500 calls for service answered and leading patrol in extra shifts worked," Elwell said.
