According to the affidavit filed in Knox County Unified Court, Rockland Police Sgt. Andrew Redden and Officer Michael Rolerson were on patrol on Nov. 16 at approximately 1 a.m. when they observed a vehicle parked on the Rockland Public Landing, behind the Rockland Harbor Masters Office. The officers parked their police cruiser some distance away and approached the vehicle on foot.
As they got close to the vehicle, the officers observed that it was occupied by two males and a female. The officers reported that they detected the odor of burnt marijuana. The officers made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and through the course of their investigation determined that the female, Vitale, was currently on probation.
Police noted in their report that Vitale had bloodshot and glassy eyes. They searched her purse and found 94 Oxycodone pills in a container along with marijuana and cut straws to snort the Oxycodone, according to the court document. Police confirmed that Vitale did not have a prescription for the pills. Vitale told police that she had purchased the pills for $3,500 in cash from a man in New Hampshire. She said that she paid roughly $35 for the pills.
