Kenneth Kinney, obituary
SEARSPORT — Kenneth M. Kinney, 63, born Feb. 11, 1952, in the old Belfast Hospital, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 27, 2015. He graduated from Searsport High School in 1971.
He played the spoons and the trombone and was in the Boy Scouts. He worked at Mary's Restaurant and at Al Rose Market in Searsport. He worked on the tug boats in Belfast and became engineer on a tug boat in New York.
He then came back here to help his father run Kinney's Construction. His first experience with equipment was a Tonka dump truck and a backhoe. He was an expert in running the equipment. He drove a farm tractor when he was 8 years old, and as a teen he delivered the Bangor Daily newspaper. One winter he had to plow his way to his customers and plowed driveways on the way.
Ken was predeceased by his father, Max G. Kinney. He is survived by his mother, Iva E. Kinney; four children, Diana Herbert and her husband, Scott, Kenneth C. Kinney and his wife, Angel, Shawn Kinney and his wife, Mary Joe, and Travis Kinney and his wife, Nicole; seven grandchildren; his stepchildren, Ron and Lucas Small; his sisters, Deloris Merithew and her husband, Tony, Kathreen Ward and her husband, Douglas, and Barbara White and her husband, Timothy; his brothers, Alan Kinney and his wife, Theresa, and Max R. Kinney and his wife, Linda. He also leaves behind his friends, Terry Cook Jr., Wayne Hamilton, Winston York, Alan and Chad Armstrong and Marty Young; and his aviation buddies, Rex Kelly, Ray Rodgers and others that flew model airplanes at the Red Neck Aviation Field. Ken was loved by his aunts and uncles, including Clinton and Margaret Kinney, and David and Doris Kinney; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Temple Church on Route 52 in Belfast.
