James A. Waterman Sr., obituary
KNOX - James A. Waterman Sr., 92, of Knox, passed away on Jan. 25, 2017, at Maine General Hospital in Augusta.
James was born in Belfast on Jan. 10, 1925, the youngest son of Blanche Wallace and Charles Waterman. He went into the Navy at the age of 17 at the beginning of World War II. He served on the ship Massachusetts out of Fall River, Mass., where he was a proud plank owner.
He worked for Summer's Fertilizer, Maplewood Poultry, Crowe Rope and Penobscot Frozen Foods. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Westerns and the News and enjoyed reading and being outdoors.
James was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Robert and Charles; and his sisters, Grace and Lora. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn of 46 years; his sons, Jim and his wife, Dot, of Freedom, Jere and his wife, Joyce, of Durham, and James of Knox; five grandsons, Kevin, Eric, Jere Jr., Kerry and Brent; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; three stepchildren, Dale, Terry and Randy; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave. in Belfast.
