Houlton bound heroin intercepted
PORTLAND — State Police and MDEA have charged a Houlton woman with attempting to transport heroin into northern Maine. 32 year old Jessi Polchies was arrested at the Portland Transportation Center Saturday morning and charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin.
Troopers and drug agents have been investigating a group transporting heroin from Lawrence, Massachusetts into York County. Investigators learned that Polchies had traveled from Houlton to the Old Orchard Beach area in order to purchase some of that heroin to be transported back to the Houlton area to be sold. She was due to take a bus from Portland to Bangor Saturday morning.
Polchies was located in the lobby of the bus terminal and arrested on an outstanding warrant for operating after suspension of her driver's license. During an interview that followed, she admitted she had heroin on her and investigators found 30 grams. She was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where bail was set at $10,060. She will make her first court appearance Monday in Portland District Court. More arrests are expected in this case.
