Evening crash outside hospital sends one to emergency room
ROCKPORT — A Thursday evening crash at the intersection of Pen Bay Medical Center and Route 1 in Rockport sent one man to the hospital’s emergency room with minor injuries. He was treated and later released.
According to Rockport Officer Jim Moore, the crash occurred when Joel Perry, 52, of Milbridge attempted to turn left into the hospital entrance. He was traveling south of Route 1 in a 2002 Subaru Forester when he turned left and into the path of an oncoming 2015 Ford Focus, operated by Jennifer Fitzgerald, 37, of Rockport.
Moore said the Subaru crossed into the path of Fitzgerald, causing significant front end damage to both vehicles.
Both Fitzgerald and her 14-year-old passenger were treated and released at the scene; Perry was transported to the hospital.
Perry has been charged with failing to yield right of way.
