Ernest L. Simmons, of Friendship, 91, died on Friday, June 30, 2017 in the Miles Hospital after a brief illness. He was the devoted brother of Edna Simmons.

Ernest was born on October 28, 1925 in Friendship Long Island, Maine, and he was the son of the late Fred L. and Edith M. (Clark) Simmons.

He was employed as a stitcher for 41 years for Van Baalens in Rockland until his retirement.

He was a cat lover throughout his life and as a younger man he enjoyed playing croquet, baseball and liked to listen to the radio. He considered himself a religious person and was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses.

A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 in the Harbor View Cemetery in Friendship. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
