Enroute to jail, Belfast man threatens to blow up officer’s house
BELFAST — A Belfast man has been charged with disorderly conduct and criminal threatening following a June 15 incident near the Belfast footbridge.
Timothy St. Thomas, 60, was reported to Belfast Police for being loud, disorderly, and otherwise “obnoxious,” according to Sergeant John Gibbs.
Officer Travis Spencer responded to the Front Street scene shortly before 6 p.m. and asked St. Thomas to leave the area.
Gibbs said St. Thomas refused multiple directives to leave the area, insisting the area was public property and he was allowed to stay.
Spencer ultimately placed St. Thomas under arrest and transported him to Waldo County Jail.
While en route to the jail, he reportedly began talking about past experience with mortars and told Spencer that if his house were to disappear Spencer would “know what happened.”
“He basically threatened to blow his house up in a roundabout way,” Gibbs said.
Due to his comments St. Thomas was also charged with criminal threatening.
St. Thomas is due to appear in court July 21.
