David A. Pouchot Sr., obituary
LINCOLNVILLE — David A. Pouchot Sr., known affectionately as "Pastor Dave," died Sept. 5, 2015, at the age of 75, in his home in Lincolnville, surrounded by his children, their spouses and his beloved wife of 54 years, Marian.
Because of his faith in Christ, Pastor Dave is now in the presence of the Lord. Pastor Dave was a graduate of Lancaster High School, the University of Richmond and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served with honor in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the United States Navy Reserve as a chaplain. His passion was to glorify God in all things and to share the good news of the gospel to all who would hear. He had a servant's heart and a genuine love for the people in the community in which he lived. He was known for his infectious smile and joyful spirit in all things.
In 43 years of pastoral ministry, Pastor Dave led churches in Texas, Washington and Virginia, and for the last 18 years in the state of Maine. He was presently serving as church planter/pastor of Crossroads Community Baptist Church in Lincolnville, which began eight years ago. Pastor Dave sought to live out 2 Timothy 2:24 – "And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth."
Pastor Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Helen Pouchot. He is survived by his wife, Marian S. Pouchot; five children and their spouses, Suzanne Fiore (Charles), David Pouchot Jr. (Teresa), John Pouchot (Tracy), Dan Pouchot (Melissa Kaye) and Marian Martin (Brent); 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Pouchot (Roberta); and his sister, Ginger Fagle (Richard).
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 11, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Poquoson Baptist Church in Poguoson, Va, A service celebrating the goodness of God and the life of Pastor Dave will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. at Poquoson Baptist Church, followed by a luncheon. Burial will follow at the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Lancaster County, Va., in the afternoon with Navy honors. A memorial service will also be held Sunday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Lincolnville Central School in Lincolnville.
