Albert Hubbard Sr., obituary
BELFAST — Albert Edward Hubbard Sr. died peacefully Sept. 15, 2015, at Harbor Hill Nursing Home in Belfast. He was born April 21, 1924, to Charles and Alberta (Smith) Hubbard of Unity Plantation.
Albert served in the U.S. Army during World War II and returned home, where he married his sweetheart, Lilla Cook. They were married for 67 years.
Albert worked at various jobs before deciding to raise poultry for a living, which he did until his retirement in 1987.
Albert and wife Lilla were devout members of the Church of Christ in Unity before he started to lead weekly services at his home in Brooks.
Albert was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was always ready to help his family in any way that he could.
Albert was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Alberta; his stepmother, Katherine Hubbard; his brothers, Harry Hubbard and Alfred Hustus; and two sons, Richard and Albert Jr.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Lilla; his brother, Charles Hubbard; his sisters, Alice Brier and Stella Huff; five daughters, Sally and her husband, Henry Kenny, Nancy and her husband, Ronnie Ray, Della Heath, Lori Hubbard and Linda Cunningham; three sons, Carl and his wife, Pam, Phil, and Chris and his fiancé, Diane Libby; his grandchildren, Pat Dearborn, Sandra Gibson and her husband, Jeff, Karen Kenney, Arthur Kenney and his wife, Robin, Frank Ray, Kimberly Ray and her boyfriend, Anthony White, Mandi Thomas, Isaac Hubbard, Heidi Heath, Phil Hubbard, Albert Hubbard, Chris Hubbard and his wife, Carla, Nicole Hubbard and her boyfriend, Scott Swift, Joshua Hubbard, Amy Pease and Chris Cunningham; his great-grandchildren, Arianna and Tony White, Dylan and Rowen Locke, Pearl Thomas, Zen and Emma Hubbard, Payton Hubbard, Victoria Hubbard and Meshia Cunningham; and special mention for his niece, Ruth and her husband, Jack Ayer, who were always there with a helping hand, as well as many more nieces and nephews.
There will be a military graveside service on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. at Fowler Cemetery in Unity. A luncheon immediately follows at the American Legion Hall in Unity.
