Windjammers arrive in Camden Harbor for the festival
CAMDEN — They sailed into Camden Harbor throughout the afternoon Friday, on beautiful August breezes, those coastal schooners that have made Midcoast Maine famous. Capt. Jim Sharp narrated, heralding the arrival of each vessel, telling the crowd assembled along the shore the history of each schooner, a little of each captain and stories to boot.
The arrival of the fleet into Camden Harbor Friday signaled the start of the 2013 Camden Windjammer Festival, a three-day event that includes crate races, a build-a-boat race, schooner talent show, fireworks and more.
Enjoy the show, and head to Camden this weekend. The spectacle runs through Sunday, with a boat parade around the harbor capping the weekend at 4 p.m.
