Stephen “Andy” Ballou, obituary

CAMDEN — Stephen “Andy” Ballou, 69, died on April 2, 2024, at the Sussman House in Rockport, with family members at his side, of complications from several medical conditions. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on August 5, 1954, he was the son of Victor and Stephanie (Goodman) Ballou.

In the early 1980s Andy moved to Camden where he worked as a yacht rigger. After several years, he went to work in a local a tile shop, then moved on to the family business, Ballou & Associates, as a bookkeeper until his retirement two years ago.

Andy loved sailing, skiing, fishing and spending time with his large family.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Pen Bay Medical Center, Maine Medical Center, the Sussman House, and many EMTs for the great care he received.

Surviving is his wife, Tammy Swasey-Ballou; son, Taylor Ballou and his wife Tasha; stepsons, Ben Gustafson and his wife Mona; Todd Gustafson and his wife Meghan; Nicholas Heald and his wife Tracey; stepdaughter, Misti Edwards and her husband Jay; grandchildren, Jacob, Sawyer, Kalli, Mara; step-grandchildren, Rodney, Ciera, Kassidy, Julieanna, Levi, Sydney, Elayne, Owen, Allyssa, Montanna, Nicky; four great-grandchildren, Annabell, Myra, Lilith and McKenna; two dogs, Cody and Murphy; and extended family members.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 1 - 3 p.m., at the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
