ROCKPORT — It’s time for the Rock Coast Rollers’ annual roller derby bonanza, The Maine Event, where seven teams representing women’s and men’s roller derby leagues in Maine go head to head in five mini games.

The event will take place Saturday, July 18 at the Midcoast Recreation Center on Route 90 in Rockport with the doors opening at 4 p.m. and the first whistle at 5 p.m.

The Rock Coast Rollers’ Jeerleaders will be performing at halftime. 

The five contests will be include Rock Coast Rollers’ The Perfect Storm vs. Resurgam Roller Derby, Casco Bay Gentlemen’s Derby vs. Katahdin Roller Kings, Old Port Brigade vs. Rock Coast Rollers’ Breakwater Blackhearts, Central Maine Derby vs. Old Port Brigade and Central Maine Derby vs. Rock Coast Rollers’ Breakwater Blackhearts. 

Tickets are available online by at www.maineevent2015.brownpapertickets.com, or at local vendors (Good Tern Co-op, Belfast Co-op, and Clean Bee Laundry) for the discounted rate of $10. Tickets will also be available at the door for $12. Admission is free for children 12 and under.

A portion of proceeds from the Maine Event will go towards the Maine Women’s Lobby.
