CAMDEN — Page Gallery presents Here And Now, an exhibition of paintings from Gideon Bok, Susan Lichtman, and Terry Powers featuring intimate interior views; an art studio, a family home, and the spaces in between.

The exhibition will open with a public reception during the Camden Art Walk on Thursday, May 16, from 5 - 7 p.m., and will be on display through June 14. Camden artist Gideon Bok will present an artist talk about his work on Sunday, June 2, at 1 p.m.

“Gideon Bok's studio is rife with expression and creativity,” said the Page Gallery, in a news release. “His paintings develop slowly, as he paints an ever-evolving movement of people and objects. His easel at the center, Bok documents his studio's interior, the presence of his children and reminders of family and friends, while offering a glimpse of the landscape through the windows. Signs, instruments and records punctuate the room, telling stories of the activity within the space.”

A figurative painter from Southeastern Massachusetts, Susan Lichtman paints her home, yard, and studio, often with family and friends filling the composition. Using shapes of color to describe figures and architecture, she creates arrangements, scenes within scenes, building a complexity of light and shifting spaces. The result is a portrait of those relationships and an evocative feeling of home, according to the Page Gallery.

“Terry Powers approaches his paintings with lush, immediate brushwork,”said Page. “He is a witness to his surroundings, painting things as he finds them – scattered clementines, an unfolded quilt, a studio lamp. Powers doesn't hide the presence of family and studio life in his arrangements, but celebrates it, sensitively observing each piece of the scene.”

The opening reception for Here And Now coincides with Camden's first Art Walk of the season on Thursday, May 16 from 5-7 pm when Bay View Street will be closed to vehicles and there will be live music, a food truck by @brothershucker, crafting with Miss Amy from the Camden Public Library, and galleries and shops open late.
