Omar W. Brown, obituary

THOMASTON — Omar W. Brown, 68, passed away at home on the morning of March 5, 2024, with his wife by his side.

Born August 11, 1955, he was the son of Myron and Martha Taylor Brown. Educated locally, he attended Washington and Waldoboro schools.

For over 38 years Omar was employed with George C. Hall & Sons before retiring from that company.

Omar enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and most recently enjoyed the time he was able to spend with them at his wife’s 70th birthday celebration.

He was an avid NASCAR fan who hosted many race gatherings. He loved fishing, four wheeling and camping trips with his great friend Jeff Burakowski.

Omar was a member of the Rockland Lodge of Elks 1008 and the Son’s of the American Legion where he had many great friends.

Predeceased by his parents and his father-in-law Lloyd M. Hooper, Sr., Omar is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Hooper Brown of Thomaston; his two daughters, Jessica Ripley and her husband Adam of Washington, Angie Murray and her husband John of Thomaston; his mother-in-law, Shirley Hooper of Thomaston; two sisters, Barbara Smith and her husband Leonard of Florida, Tammy Brown of Augusta; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Hooper, Jr. and his wife Virginia of North Carolina, Douglas Hooper and his wife Janice of Warren; three grandchildren, Megan Sykes and her significant other Garrett Bates, Autumn Ripley, Chase Ripley; a great-grandson, Colby Bates, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m., at the Brown Residence.
