NORTHPORT — A Northport man was arrested Tuesday evening after Waldo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a disturbance on Beech Hill Road.

Upon arrival, Sgt. James Greeley and Deputy Dan Thompson were approached by the complainant and two juvenile females. According to a press release, the three told the officers that Corey Pendleton, 46, had physically assaulted the complainant.

During the altercation, Pendleton allegedly threw the woman’s phone in an effort to keep her from contacting law enforcement.

The woman, and the two juveniles witnesses also stated that Pendleton placed her in a choke hold from behind. He reportedly sustained facial injuries during the altercation.

Pendleton physically resisted being handcuffed initially, though he “eventually complied,” according to the press release.

Pendleton has been charged with aggravated domestic assault, obstructing the report of a crime and refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

Due to the domestic nature of his offenses, no bail has been set for Pendleton.
