Marine Engineering offered at MCST Adult Ed

ROCKLAND — Mid-Coast School of Technology Adult Education offers USCG licensing classes throughout the year. The upcoming 3-week QMED (Qualified Member of the Engine Department) course presents an in-depth study of steam, diesel and gas power systems used on seagoing vessels.

QMED instruction begins Monday, April 6.

Training also includes auxiliaries such as generators, pumps, and refrigeration and an introduction to the practical skills of machining and welding. Students who successfully complete the course will be eligible to receive QMED Fireman/Oiler/Water tender endorsements and credit for 60 days of sea service.

Alan Lord leads this Monday through Saturday course. The deadline for enrolling is Friday, March 6.
