Maine’s Eliot Coleman receives James Beard Leadership Award

NEW YORK —  Eliot Coleman, owner of Four Seasons Farm in the Hancock County town of Harborside has been selected by the James Beard Foundation as the winner of one of its five Leadership Awards.

Coleman is a farmer, author, agricultural researcher and educator. According the the James Beard Foundation website he is being honored for the impact his more than 40 years of innovative farming techniques and extensive writings on the subject of organic agriculture have had on the field, and on our country’s food system.

Michelle Obama, Michael Pollan and Mark Bittman are prior winners of the prestigious honor. 

Coleman will be honored at a ceremony in New York City on October 19.
