Letter to the editor: Kathleen Meil’s voice will be heard in the Legislature

Mon, 09/26/2016 - 7:30pm

This November, I am going to vote for Kathleen Meil for the District 94 seat in the State Legislature (Camden, Rockport and Islesboro). She would succeed Joan Welsh who has served us so well.

I have known Kathleen for about four years. She is a friend I trust and admire. Kathleen has the qualities we need in the Legislature. She is a hard working young mom with two children in public schools.  Her previous experience as a teacher equips her with intimate knowledge of public education in Maine.

Kathleen’s husband and an associate recently started a new business in Rockport. She has firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by small businesses.

Kathleen chose her line of work because she cares about energy efficiency and the environment.  The Sierra Club has endorsed her. They really must believe Kathleen will be a strong advocate for sound environmental policy. We need to elect someone qualified to take Joan’s place on the Environment and Natural Resources Committee.

Kathleen is experienced speaking in public. Her voice will be heard in the Legislature.
