CAMDEN — In recognition of Stroke Awareness Month, Quarry Hill’s monthly Awareness Series will focus on the medical condition with an educational event Wednesday, May 2, at 1:15 p.m., at the Anderson Inn.

Eileen Hawkins, RN, MSN, Stroke Program Coordinator for the Pen Bay Medical Center Primary Stroke Center, will review the different kinds of stroke, the warning signs and risk factors for stroke, as well as current treatments and what you can do to prevent stroke from happening. She will explain why today’s advanced treatments still rely on early identification of stroke symptoms, early call for help and transportation to the hospital, and rapid evaluation and treatment by the hospital team.

“Please come to learn how you can spot a stroke, perhaps prevent one, and maybe save a life,” said Quarry Hill, in a news release. “Quarry Hill is pleased to host this Awareness Series, addressing a different health-related topic each month.”
