The Jeffrey S. Caron Memorial Scholarship Committee said Sept. 11 that it raised the funds necessary for the matching $1,000 donation by an anonymous benefactor. Earlier in the summer, a childhood friend agreed to match all funds raised dollar for dollar up to $1,000. Jeff’s family and friends have since tirelessly flocked all over the Midcoast, with more than 80 flockings completed of the 100 anticipated before the flock flies south for the winter.

The committee expects to be able to raise $5,000 before year’s end, funds that will directly benefit graduating Oceanside students in the Class of 2015 and beyond who plan to pursue a career in medicine.

Flockings will continue through mid-October and will pick up again in the spring when the flamboyance of flamingos returns home for the summer. There is still time to flock a friend!
