James L. DeGraff, obituary

BELFAST - James L. “Jim” DeGraff died Jan. 26, 2017, at home in Belfast, after an 11-year battle against cancer. He was born the son of Laurence and Isabelle DeGraff on Feb. 9, 1933.

Jim worked many years at Maplewood, Penobscot Poultry Co. and retired from the State of Maine Highway Department. Jim served in the National Guard for 36-1/2 years.

Jim and his wife Joanne loved to travel, go camping and being with family and friends. They enjoyed many years together at Rainbow RV Park in Zephyrhills, Fla.

Jim was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joanne; two sons, Jack DeGraff and his wife, Regina, and John DeGraff and his wife, Sandra; three grandchildren, Nicole, Shelby and Isabelle DeGraff; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Sage, Nico and Aria; and cousins and many friends in Maine and Florida.

Many thanks to family, friends, hospice workers and volunteers who gave Jim comfort and support, as well as much needed companionship during his illness.

A graveside service will be held in the spring.
