THOMASTON — Ivy Wood Dodd, 86, died June 12, 2015, at the Homestead in Cushing. She was born May 2, 1929, at Milton Place, Kent, England, to George and Ivy May (Ashton) Wood.

She was the widow of the late Allen Robert Dodd Jr. of Westport, Conn., and Thomaston.

She was an editorial staff member of Weldens Publications and International News Service, both in London, 1948-1956; the Saturday Review magazine in New York City from 1958 – 1968; the Courier Gazette from 1969 –1994; and Maine Sunshine Guides 1996-2007. She was the co-author with Allen Dodd of A Tale of Two Cats, published by McGraw Hill Publishers in 1978.

She was active on the Thomaston Fourth of July Committee, the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County and the Thomaston Public Library. She was a communicant of the Episcopal Church of St. John Baptist in Thomaston and their directress of the Altar Guild.

Ivy is survived by her sister, Katherine Davey of Alicante, Spain; along with a niece and a nephew.

A celebration of her life and memorial service will be held Monday, June 22 at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of St. John Baptist in Thomaston with a reception following. Interment at Village Cemetery in Thomaston will take place at a later date.
