Harvey L. Richardson, obituary

ROCKLAND — Harvey L. Richardson, 70, of Rockland, Maine passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024 at the Sussman house in Rockport, Maine, as the result of a massive stroke. Harvey was born in Camden, Maine December 31, 1953 to Vera Greenrose Townsend and Isaac Richardson, the second oldest of six children.

Harvey spent most of his childhood in warren later the family moved to Rockland. Harvey attended Rockland District Highschool prior to joining the army in 1970 where he finished his education and was stationed in Frankfort, Germany until 1973. While in the army he was a mechanic repairing heavy equipment and tanks. For most of his life he made a living doing what he loved best mechanical work on cars and trucks. He especially liked working on and collecting antique vehicle’s.      

Harvey was known for telling a good story and his sense of humor. He enjoyed getting people ‘Wound up” as he called it. His sense of humor was always evident in his stories: some factual some not so factual. His personality and charisma enabled him to make friends easily wherever he went and his laugh was infectious to anyone around him. One of his common phrases was “Well What are we going to do today.”

Harvey loved his family was always willing to help friends and random strangers, and he loved all animals. He was always there for others when the chips were down. He was truly a great man whose impact will be forever felt by those who loved him.    

Harvey is survived by three sons, Harvey Richardson and his wife Cindy and their daughter Zoe of Rockland, Maine, Wayne Richardson and his wife Lori and their sons Austin and Isaac and daughter Kailee of Warren, Maine, Brian Richardson his wife Sarah of Rockland and Brian’s son Allen; sister Cynthia Bend (husband Robert Bend Sr.) of Trenton, Florida; sister Nancy Gamage of Jonesboro Tennessee; sister Rhonda Batty (partner John Bennett) of Rockland, Maine; brother, Rodney Townsend of Rockland, Maine; multiple nieces and nephews.
