‘Good Morning, Belfast!’ to feature local leaders

    BELFAST — Good Morning, Belfast! will launch its first week of programs with interviews of local community leaders: Stephen Ryan, Executive Director for Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce; and Zachary Schmesser, Executive Director for Our Town Belfast.

    Good Morning, Belfast! will be broadcast on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 to 9 a.m. The first two shows feature Ryan on Tuesday, March 6, and Schmesser on Thursday, March 8.

    The program will be carried on these community media: Belfast Community TV (BCTV) Cable Channel 2; Rockland Community Television's Maine Coast TV station; Belfast Community Radio (BCR) WBFY 100.9 F.M.

    "Belfast Community TV is pleased to be co-producing this program with WBFY and sharing the program with Community TV in Knox County. This project shows the cooperative spirit among community media in Midcoast Maine," says Ned Lightner, station manager of Belfast Community TV.

    The combined audience for the show is projected to reach over 30,000 households in Midcoast Maine.

    "The goal of Good Morning, Belfast! is to celebrate the good life in Belfast and Waldo County, Maine. The program covers the arts, business and community affairs, and features interviews with guests and performances by local musicians and entertainers," says George Frangoulis, producer and co-creator of the show.

    The show also includes segments on "Arts By the Bay," "Notable Belfastians," "Fun and Fascinating Facts of Waldo County," and "Look Who's Coming to Town," along with other timely and thought-provoking items to inform, inspire, and entertain its audience.

    The program's creators are George Frangoulis and Ned Lightner. Frangoulis is the show's producer and host, while his spouse, Kristin Frangoulis, is host of the show's "Arts By the Bay". Lightner, is in charge of technical production and direction of Good Morning, Belfast!

    Currently, George Frangoulis also hosts WBFY's Farmstead Radio Show that airs on Wednesday at 6 p.m.; Kristin Frangoulis hosts WBFY's Poetry by the Bay that airs on Sunday at 4 p.m.

    Good Morning, Belfast! is produced in a studio on the second floor above The Old Professor's Bookshop at 99 Main St. in downtown Belfast. However, for variety, some future shows will be produced at various locations outside the studio.
