Dec. 15 Busline League Basketball Scoreboard

The Busline League middle school basketball season continued with several contests Monday, Dec. 15 as teams get ready to close out a significant portion of the season before they take time off for the Christmas season. 

Following are reported results to the Pilot.

Boys Basketball: Islesboro 43, Searsport B 25

At Searsport, Islesboro (8-1) got 16 points from eighth-grade swingman Brett Start and 10 from seventh-grade forward Jonathan Runnion-Bareford, all in the first half.

The Eagles led 32-12 at intermission.

Runnion-Bareford had seven steals, six rebounds and four assists. Seventh-grade guard Patrick Kehoe had a game-high eight rebounds to go along with his five points in limited action.

Gabe Poulin scored 16 of his team's 25 points for Searsport B. Gabe Kneeland had six.

Girls Basketball: Boothbay 65, Camden-Rockport 7th 17

Scoring for the Schooners were Kassie Krul (13 points), Maddie Holt and Rebecca Cox (two each). 

For Boothbay, all players on the roster had at least one point as Faith Blethen swished in 20, including two 3-pointers, Maggie Larson and Helen Hamblett had 10 each, Hanah Gentry eight, Alexis Davison and Ashley Abbot six each, Madison Barter three and Savannah Sedivy two. 

On the game, Schooners head coach Cheryl Beveridge said, “What more can I say. It was a 65-17 game. Boothbay is a tremendous team. I enjoy watching them play but it is hard to do that when you are the opposing coach. We worked on a new offense and even against Boothbay it was successful a few times. We are excited to see how it works with other teams.”

Girls Basketball: Oceanside White 7th 32, Oceanside Blue 7th 21

Scorers for Oceanside White were Hannah Benner and Chloe Simmons (nine each), Krista Butler, Karizma Chickering and Savannah Senay (two each),  Josie Mathiau (three), Destiny Doyle (five).

Information for Oceanside Blue was not available. 

Boys Basketball: Camden-Rockport 8th 57, Boothbay 41

The Camden-Rockport Middle School boys basketball team traveled to Boothbay Monday night and came away with a 57-41 victory. This win brought the Schooners' record to 3-4 on the season as they head into the break.

The Schooners came out strong early in the game, leading 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. Jack Hanson netted eight of his team high 18 points in the second as the Schooners extended its lead to 14 points at halftime, 30-16.

The two teams played an even second half, with the third quarter ending at 43-30 and a final of 57-41.

Leading the visitors were Hanson (18) and Kerry Sabanty 16 points. Michael McGeady scored eight and Spencer Johndro four points. Also scoring for Camden-Rockport were Charlie O'Brien (three points), Bailey McWilliams, Ethan Cayouette, Sam Hebert, and Seth Sweet (two points apiece).

For Boothbay, Stevie Remy led the way with a game high 22 points, Alex Hibbard scored eight, and Gabe Bentley seven.

Camden-Rockport will next play on Monday, Jan. 8 at home versus Lincolnville.

Boys Basketball: Oceanside White 7th 47, Oceanside Blue 7th 34

Scoring for the White team were Hunter Hoppe and Cameron Kingsbury (10 each), Drew Minery (eight), Jake Paulsen and Carson Murphy (four each), Jonah Carlson and Nick Jones (two each) and Nick Banda (one). 

Scoring for the Blue team were Ethan Wilson (15 points), Karl Ilvonen (10 points), Caseey Campell (four points), Chris Mathieson and Carter Fogerty (two points) and Noah Beller (one). 

Girls Basketball: Boothbay 37, Camden-Rockport 7th 33

At the end of the first period, the two were tied at eight, at the end of the half Boothbay was up 24-13 and at the end of the third, Boothbay was ahead 29-27. 

Scoring for Boothbay were Glory Blethen (14 points), Katie Kawson (nine), Maddy Faulkingham (five), Josey Smith (four), Chloe Arsenault (three) and Maisey O’Brien (two). 

The team shot 6-of-10 (60 percent) from the free throw line. 

For the Schooners, points were netted by Audrey Bowman (13), Kaylin Krul (seven), Danni Cayoutte (four), Emie Wood and Sophie Ernst (three each), Megan Russell (two) and Kierston Whitney (one). 

The Schooners shot 7-of-18 (39 percent) from the free throw line.
