Camden’s Scouting BSA Troop 200 participates in 2023 Mainah Camporie

Mon, 10/23/2023 - 1:30pm

Eight scouts and five adult leaders from Scouting BSA Troop 200, in Camden, participated in the Casco Bay District 2023 Mainah Camporie at Camp William Hinds, in Raymond during the weekend of October 13-15.

Troop 200 enjoyed both seasonal temperatures and peak autumn foliage as they tented at the Brownsea campsite for the weekend event. Scouts from the troop dressed in plaid shirts and wore hunter orange hats to celebrate the Mainah theme.

The event was organized by Scouting BSA Troop 47 of Scarborough, members of scouting’s National Honor Society known as Order of the Arrow, and several volunteers  from the 2023 Pine Tree Council National Youth Leadership Training course.

The Camporee was entirely organized, facilitated, and managed by a staff of youth leaders who succeeded in providing an exciting weekend of engaging opportunities to demonstrate the core skills and disciplines of scouting through friendly competition.

On Monday, October 30, Scouting BSA Troop 200 will be hosting the Fall Court of Awards in the Scout room at the First Congregational Church in Camden. Scouts have been working hard on advancement throughout the summer and early Fall.

Scoutmaster Ed Weber will be joined by Assistant Scoutmasters Ed Hurlbert and Doug Grant in recognizing rank advancements, merit badges, and other awards. The evening will start at 6 p.m., with a regular troop opening ceremony, followed by the awards ceremony. All are welcome.
