    Thursday, March 12

    Peter Pfeiffer, author of Hard Chance: Tree Farming in Troubled Times, tells about becoming an independent tree farmer in northern Maine, including a history of the local back-to-the-land movement during the turbulent 1970s and the subsequent satisfactions of living in a backwoods community. Pfeiffer's reading will be at the Camden Public Library at 7 p.m.


    Saturday, March 14

    Indoor Book Sale at the Camden Public Library, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and continued on Sunday afternoon, featuring a wide variety of books on the arts, biographies, fiction, gardening, health, history, religion, as well as a large section of children's and young adult books, videos, and paperbacks by well-known fiction writers and authors on numerous subjects. To benefit the Camden Public Library.


    Sunday March 15

    Indoor Book Sale continues at the Camden Public Library, 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. To benefit book purchases at the Library.


    Tuesday, March 17

    "Tech Tuesday" topic "Staying Safe Online" led by staff librarian and tech wizard Olga Zimmerman, 3 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome. Learn how to protect your identity online, avoid scams, and ensure that your personal information is secure. Call to sign up, 236-3440.

    Free family movie "Wall-E," 5:30 p.m. at the Camden Public Library.

    "Songwriters Session" led by John Nicholas and David Dodson, 6 p.m. at the Camden Public Library. Open to all, $5 donation accepted. Bring in a song you are working on and share with the group.


    Wednesday, March 18

    "Using Herbs to Find Comfort in Aging," an educational program presented by Jillian Kelsey-Rose, 1 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, as part of Quarry Hill's Adventures in Living Well series for adults age 55-plus. The event is free and open to the public but registration is required, call Quarry Hill at 921-6116.


    Thursday, March 19

    Midcoast Audubon Society presents "Monitoring Winged Migrations in Acadia National Park," with Seth Benz, 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library. National parks are natural laboratories offering geographically and ecologically diverse, long-term protected landscapes in which to study large-scale patterns, and how climate change may be impacting these patterns.


    Saturday, March 21

    The Maine Mycological Association hosts Greg Marley on "Poisonous Mushrooms in Maine and How to Avoid Them," 2 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome.

    Camden Public Library hosts two shows by the Northern Stars Planetarium in the Library's Reading Room. Calling to sign up for this free program as room is limited, 236-3440. At 1 p.m., "Our Family in the Sky" for children age 4 through 2nd grade; at 2:30 p.m., "The Great Moon Adventure" for kids grade 3-6.


    Tuesday, March 24

    "The History of the House and Gardens of Spite House" presented by Marylee Dodge and Theresa Mattor, hosted by the Camden Garden Club as part of the Winter Horticulture Series, 10 a.m. at the Camden Public Library.

    "A Celebration of the Camden Opera House," an illustrated talk with architect Christopher Glass and Camden Opera House manager Kerry Hadley, 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome.

    "The Meaning of Tea" featuring a film screening and tea with director Scott Chamberlin Hoyt, 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library. Hosted by the CRMS Japanese Exchange Program. The movie is an eloquent and personal journey into the wonders of tea, a plant that has greatly influenced the trajectory of human history, according to a news release.
