At this week's West Bay Rotary meeting, Camden Rotary President Bruce Cole presented what he calls a "grass roots story" to alleviate the desperate lack of power in Kyev, a situation he classified as a "train wreck." He shared that in a city of three million people, on a good day you may have four hours of electricity; on a bad day you may have only two hours of electricity.

Hearing of the dire situation, a nearby Canadian Rotary club chose to take action through an Intercountry committee partnership and created a fund to deliver portable generators at the local level in Kyev. The image here show Canadian Rotary representatives in Ukraine delivering a new portable generator to a center for children with visual impairments.

Generators can range in price from $500-$2500, but make all the difference for the Ukranian people trying to navigate the fallout from ongoing warfare. West Bay Rotary's International Committee currently is looking at joining Camden Rotary in this timely initiative.
