Rockland man accused of vehicle burglaries
ROCKLAND — A Rockland man was arrested by Rockland police for allegedly breaking into a car April 28, according to a news release by Deputy Chief Chris Young.
Police said that at approximately 9 p.m., April 28, officers responded to Talbot Avenue to investigate a suspected motor vehicle burglary. A witness who followed the suspect reported that he entered an apartment complex on Summer Street.
Rockland officers made contact with Anthony Bates, 55, and detained him at the apartment building. Bates had no stolen items in his possession and was soon released by police.
Bates was later observed by police entering a vehicle on North Main Street that was not his. Rockland Police Officer Michael Rolerson then arrested Bates for two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle and refusing to submit to arrest.
Police transported Bates to the Knox County Jail. He posted bail and has been released.
