Belfast jury finds woman guilty of manslaughter in 2017 stabbing death of Waldo man
BELFAST — A Rockport woman was convicted of manslaughter in Waldo County Superior Court April 27, for the February 2017 stabbing death of Edwin Littlefield.
Victoria Scott, 34, was charged with manslaughter after stabbing Littlefield multiple times with a knife Feb. 8, 2017, ultimately causing his death.
During her week-long trial, which began Monday, attorneys for Scott argued she had been acting in self-defense during the incident, leaving it up to the State to disprove the claim.
Scott was represented by attorneys Stephen C. Peterson and Naomi Cohen, both of Rockport. The case was heard by Justice Robert Murray.
A number of witnesses testified during the trial, including members of a number of law enforcement agencies, including the Maine State Police, the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine State Police Crime Laboratory, Bangor Police, in addition to testimony from civilians.
Scott will remain in custody pending sentencing, which is scheduled to occur in Waldo County Superior Court June 8.
