Rockland Council to establish city manager search committee
ROCKLAND - Rockland City Council meets Monday night, December 12, at 6 p.m. for their regularly scheduled session. On the agenda is a commendation to be made to Noah Ames. Ames lobsters out of Matinicus aboard his boat "No Worries." Every Christmas Eve for the last two years he has parked his truck in front of Midcoast Marine Supply on New County Road in Thomaston. The small sign at the edge of the road said it all: "Free lobsters today for families truly in need."
"It's about teaching my sons the spirit of Christmas," said Ames. "It's important to learn how to give back."
Last year Ames was presented with a proclamation by State Senator Dave Miramant expressing the State of Maine's gratitude for his generosity.
Mayor Clayton, who sponsored the commendation, said Ames' efforts and generosity, has resulted in other fishermen stepping up to do the same thing and participate.
"Often times what comes to us is always the hard things," Clayton said. "This is one of where we can show some goodness happening in our own community."

The City Council will at its Monday meeting establish Ad Hoc City Manager Search Committee.
Clayton thought eight members would work well for the committee. Two staff members, two residents, two councilors and two members from the personnel board.
Councilor Larry Pritchett said he felt the make up of the committee is fine.
"More then eight starts to be a problem," he said. "I wouldn't argue with nine if there was some compelling reason, on the right scale and the right representation.
Clayton said the committee is still open to residents and staff. He will announce the names for council approval Monday night.
The council will also approve after a public hearing liquor, liquor and entertainment and lodging licenses for the Rockland Elks Lodge, The Strand Theater, Limerock Inn and Maine Street Market. In addition a Taxi Company License is slated for approval for Reed's Taxi.
