Waldoboro Police beat: Accidents, stolen camo backpack, purse
WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 119 calls for service from Nov. 7-14. Listed below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not apply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Nov. 8
Officer Chris Spear investigated an accident on the Atlantic Highway at 12:19 p.m. Richard Bissett, 22, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2003 Toyota sedan. Judith Hunt, 70, of Newcastle, was driving a 2008 Jeep utility vehicle. Bissett’s vehicle was entering the roadway and failed to yield right of way to Hunt who was traveling southbound, following the roadway on the Atlantic Highway. No injuries were reported.

Officer Larry Hesseltine is investigating a report from the German Church that someone damaged a window and stole $5 in cash.
Nov. 10
Jake Wood, 41, of Warren, was issued a summons by Hesseltine for speed.
Sgt. Jamie Wilson investigated an accident on the Friendship Road at 7:38 p.m. Taylor Simmons, 21, of Friendship, was driving a 2014 Volkswagen sedan. Simmons was traveling southbound on the Friendship Road. A deer ran into the roadway in front of him and he was unable to avoid striking the it. No injuries were reported.
Nov. 11
Hesseltine is investigating a report from a citizen of the theft of a camo backpack.
Stephen Parece, 30, of Waldoboro, was arrested by Hesseltine on a warrant.
Wilson investigated an accident at the Finntown Road and Colonel Stairs Road intersection at 6:58 p.m. Brandon Taylor, 22, of Rockland, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet utility vehicle. Taylor was traveling westbound on the Colonel Stairs Road and came to the intersection with Finntown Road and the stop sign at the intersection was missing. Taylor did not notice the intersection until he entered Finntown Road. He skid across the road and struck a large tree. No injuries were reported.
Nov. 12
Officer John Lash investigated an accident on the Winslows Mills Road at 9:56 p.m. Christopher Sabien, 24, of Friendship, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck. Sabien was traveling northbound on Winslows Mills Road, following the roadway. He lost control of the motor vehicle and went off the road on the southbound side of the road. Injuries were reported.
Nov. 13
Nickolas King, 26, of Union, was issued a summons by Spear for uninspected motor vehicle.
Nov. 14
Officer Thomas Bartunek is investigating a report from a citizen who reported that her phone was stolen.
