Camden to hear LifeFlight of Maine plans to borrow project funds, consider harbor fee increases
Camden’s Select Board will consider facilitating revenue bond applications for Lifeflight of Maine, the nonprofit whose headquarters are in Camden. If signed, Camden, being a municipality, will act as a fiscal pass-through in this bonding mechanism to the Finance Authority of Maine, with no financial responsibility assumed by town taxpayers.
Lifeflight of Maine, which transports injured and ill patients to hospitals in Maine and the North East via helicopter and fixed wing aircraft, is hoping to finance $6.5 million in order to:
(1) to purchase and medically equip an Agusta 109 Grand helicopter;
(2) upgrade LifeFlight’s facility at Seacoast Regional Airport;
(3) install a repeater radio station on Mount Hope; and
(4) to pay certain costs of issuance relating thereto (the “Project”).
The topic is part of the Select Board’s regularly scheduled Nov. 15 meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Washington Street Conference Room. It will be televised on public access channel 22, and streamed live at townhallstreams.com/locations/camden-me.
In other town business, the board will consider renewing a liquor license for Francine’s Bistro, hearing a presentation of harbor fee price increases, and considering Central Maine Power pole locations for Limerock and Chestnut streets.
