ROCKLAND — The Rockland Police Department announced March 24 that Patrol Officer Alexander Gaylor was the overwhelming choice of the selection committee as their “Police Officer/Employee of the Year” for 2015, according to a press release from Sgt. Don Finnegan.  

The selection criteria for this notable award are based on the individual's performance of duties that demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism and commitment to the principles of the mission of the Rockland Police department. The nominating committee consisted of the Deputy Chief, one supervisor, one officer and one civilian employee.  

Gaylor began his career with the Rockland Police Department April 7, 2014. He is a May 2011 graduate of the Vermont Police Academy. Prior to joining the Rockland Police Department, he was a police officer for the Town of Brandon Vermont Police Department from February 2011 to his hiring with Rockland. Gaylor has an associate’s degree in criminal justice from River Valley Community College in New Hampshire. 

The committee noted that Gaylor possesses a strong work ethic and maintained an excellent work record during the past year. His performance serves as an example to other employees and officers. Gaylor is committed to the betterment of the City of Rockland and to the welfare and safety of the citizens and the community as a whole.  

Police Chief Bruce Boucher said “Alex has established himself as a leader and is a fine example for all others to follow. I can best describe Alex as hard working, and a consummate team player. He motivates others to exert the effort necessary to attain the organizational goals of the department.”  

“I find that you are strongly motivated to achieve optimal results. Your commitment to the Department and our community is exemplary and consistently exhibits professionalism and a positive attitude. You have distinguished yourself in every possible way and I can think of no one as worthy of the honor of Police Officer/Employee of the Year 2015”, said Boucher during the award presentation.
