A tribute to Nina
Nina Socker, gal about town who loved every person she met, quietly moved to dog heaven on May 1, 2025, after a brief fight with cancer.
Nina loved shopping in Camden because she knew she would get lots of pets and of course, frequent treats. She loved sniffing everywhere but especially down the Bog Path and all over Harbor Park. When not shopping she was equally happy going on hikes and once was lucky to make another fan when she hiked up Beech Hill and met Dave Mallett.
She loved rolling in the snow and on any grass, any time of year, and her joy was visible to everyone. But her greatest daily joy was when she got to snuggle with her human family, Ed, Elyse and Eddie Socker.
Nina was the biggest snuggle bunny you could ever imagine and was allowed to sleep anywhere she wanted, because – cuddle time!
Nina had some very bad experiences with other dogs before she was adopted, and she and her family want to thank the many friends and neighbors who were kind and considerate about this. Nina also wants to thank her several super fans, including the entire staff at Walgreens (and also the prior Rite Aid); everyone at Reny’s but most especially her favorite, Francine; and Gary at Lily, Lupine and Fern, who even delivered treats on one of her last days.
Nina spent her last day out in the sun in her yard keeping an eye on the squirrels and the traffic of all kinds going by on Pearl Street, another one of her favorite things to do. While she could no longer walk to Scott’s (on passing during Elyse’s workdays she’d question “Why aren’t we stopping?”) she did get to have a hot dog for lunch.
She says to be sure to hug your fur baby, give and receive lots of kisses, and accept any treats life gives you. She’s also adding her name to that very, very, VERY long petition for pets to live a lot longer.
