Maine State Prison reports inmate death
WARREN — The Maine Department of Corrections confirmed the Dec. 12 death of a prisoner incarcerated at the Maine State Prison in Warren.
At approximately 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, prisoner Joseph Dumas, 60, passed away at the Maine State Prison. Dumas’ passing was attended by staff of the prison, according to a news release.
On Dec. 6, the DOC had reported another death, that of prisoner Robert Rossignol, 51, who died at the Maine State Prison at 10:30 p.m., while attended by staff of the prison.
Consistent with the MDOC’s policy the Maine Attorney General’s Office and Medical Examiner were notified in both instances.
Dumas had been sentenced to the Maine Department of Corrections August 11, 2009 for a 30-year sentence for murder. His scheduled release date was March 11, 2036.
Dumas had been convicted of shooting and killing a man His residence before incarceration was Prentiss, Maine.
Rossignol was sentenced to the Maine Department of Corrections in July of 1989 to 75 years for murder. He had been convicted of murdering Elvie Johnson, a 90-year-old widow, in Stockholm, Maine, in 1990.
His scheduled release date was February 23, 2036.
