Truck torn in two after colliding with telephone pole
TROY — A truck was torn in two following a single vehicle crash on Burnham Road in Troy at approximately 11:44 am March 15.
Waldo County Sheriff’s deputies Cassandra McDonald, James Porter, and Sergeant James Greeley responded to the scene, where a 1999 Chevy S10 had left the roadway.
After exiting the roadway the vehicle struck a culvert and “went airborne,” according to a media report. The vehicle then struck a telephone pole, splitting the cab from the bed of the truck.
Unity Fire required the use of the Jaws of Life to free the 46 year-old driver from the cab of the vehicle, and he was transported to Sabasticook Hospital for possible internal injuries.
The driver’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, according to the report.
The crash is being reconstructed by Maine State Police, though based on initial investigation of the scene speed is believed to have been a factor in the accident.
Charges are possible depending on the final report and investigative results, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
